Introductory quiz
Due date
Friday, January 23Introduction
I hate going over the syllabus in class. You'll read it for your zero-eth lab.
Goals
- Read the syllabus. Know what you are getting into.
- Verify that you can write in your online lab notebook.
Logistics
Complete
this assignment by the end of the first week of class. You may discuss
the assignment with anyone you wish, but each student should write
their own answers.
Preparation
Go to the course web site (http://www.cs.grinnell.edu/~davisjan/csc/364/2009S/). Read about the course mechanics, the schedule, and whatever else seems interesting.
Assignment
- What do you need to do to prepare for each class meeting?
- How do you expect to spend your time for this class?
- What happens if you turn in work late?
- When can you work with other students and when can you not
work with other students (for this class)?
- What are three important or surprising things you learned from the course web site?
- Do you have questions about the course that are not
answered by the web site?
- Having read the course web site, what do you hope to get out of this course?
- Have you taken CSC 211 (Computer Organization), CSC 213 (Operating Systems), both, or neither?
Assessment
Answer all of the questions above for full credit. All students should complete this assignment, including auditors.Advice
Read the course mechanics carefully. If you have questions, be sure to ask them.
The
day and time when abstracts are due was chosen arbitrarily. I couldn't
think of a good time, so I just picked one. If you don't like it,
negotiate with your classmates for a different day and time, and let me
know what you agree on.
Lab Notebook
Post your answers to the above questions in your online lab notebook. Information about this will be distributed soon.
