Monday, February 16: Switching and bridging

Read:

  1. What is the key distinction between datagram forwarding and circuit switching? What issues do they share in common?
  2. Could you achieve the goals for the Internet (as explained by Clark, 1988) with only Ethernets and Ethernet bridges? Why or why not?
  3. We will work through some problems or examples in class.  What algorithm(s) would you most like to review carefully?
  4. What's a question you still have about the reading?
