politeness; Characters
Prepare for class by doing the following.
Write a few sentences addressing the following questions. I will collect this in class.
- What practice would you like to sustain in your participation in class discussions? (That is, what are you doing well that you want to keep doing?)
- What would you like to improve about your participation in class discussions? (That is, how could you better contribute to productive class discussions?)
Read Lesson 4, "Characters," in Style.
Read Ling, R. (2004). The intrusive nature of mobile telephony. On eReserve.
Read Okabe, D., & Ito, M. (2005). Ketai in public transportation. On eReserve.
Wednesday, October 29: Polished draft of paper 2 due
Please print two (2) copies of a polished second draft of your second paper and turn it in to my office by 5 p.m.
