Laboratory: Getting Started with the Electronic Course Assistant

Short Version

• Enter your name. Press the <Enter> key.
• Enter your password (which won't appear). Press the <Enter> key.
• Get help if those two steps don't work.

• You'll see something that looks somewhat like Microsoft Windows, but also somewhat different.
• Icons at the bottom of the screen can be used to start programs.

• Start Mozilla by clicking on the picture of the Red Dragon.
• Agree to any dialog boxes that appear. They shouldn't appear again.

• Select Open Web Location from under the File menu.
• Enter http://www.cs.grinnell.edu/~rebelsky/Courses/CS151/2003S/ in the highlighted area.
• Hit <Enter>.
• You should see the Front Door for this class.

• Click on Quizzes at the top of the page.
• You will see a message that says

  There is a problem with the certificate that identifies "glimmer.cs.grinnell.edu". Do you want to continue?
  This certificate was issued by a certificate authority that Mozilla does not recognize.

• Click on Remember this certificate permanently.
• Click on Continue
• You will be prompted for a username and password for CS153 2003S.

• Click on Sample Quiz.
• Fill out the quiz and click "Submit Answers".
• Let me know if you have problems.

Short Version

• To log out, click on the footprint near the lower left, select Log out, and confirm.
• Do not turn off the monitor or computers.
