Subject Stewardship

Once this semester, you will serve in a group of students as the stewards of one of the weekly subjects. The stewards of a subject are responsible for making sure that the class's learning of the matter goes smoothly.

In particular, the stewards of a subject are responsible for

• Researching and preparing an annotated bibliography on the subject. One key goal in preparing this bibliography is to provide a wider range of sources than the faculty member lecturing on this subject might suggest. For example, you might look for artistic or engineering perspectives on the issue.
• Selecting, in consultation with Professor Rebelsky and the guest lecturer, a series of readings for the class.
• Moderating the visits of the guest lecturers. In particular, you will need to make sure that the classroom is configured in a way that meets there needs. You will also coordinate questions at the end of each lecture.
• Leading the class in a discussion of the subject.
• Preparing a short (2-3 page) summary paper on the topic.
