These instructions will only work for Grinnell students, faculty, and staff.
As you know, we do not yet have the augmented versions of GIMP and DrScheme compiled for the Microsoft Windows platform. However, it is still possible for you to work on DrFu on your Windows workstation. How? You can run DrFu on a Linux workstation and have the GIMP and DrScheme windows appear on your Microsoft Windows workstation. (Our Linux workstations can display the windows on any computer that runs something called the X Window System.) Doing so requires a relatively fast internet connection (such as those available on campus). It also requires a little bit of bravery.
C. M. Lubinski has prepared some general instructions for running
the X Window System. These are available at
http://www.cs.grinnell.edu/~lubinski/putty.txt.
In short, you need to
/home/rebelsky/glimmer/bin/drfu
Here's the list of Linux workstations in 3813. You will need to
append .cs.grinnell.edu to the end of their names.
