Documentation History for the Proposal Submission and Reviewing Process

Web Pages and Scripts Maintained by John Dooley, Knox College, and Henry M. Walker, Grinnell College

The Proposal Submission and Reviewing Package has evolved considerably over the years:

A first version was developed by Henry M. Walker, with the help of Grinnell students Weichao Ma and Dorene Mboya, in summer 1999 for SIGCSE 2000.
John Dooley, Knox College, joined the development effort in 2005.
The ITiCSE conferences decided to use this system, beginning in 2005.
John Dooley and Henry M. Walker continue to refine features, in response to requests from conference leadership and the SIGCSE Board.
The software is now used by seven annual conferences:
- SIGCSE Symposium (starting in 2000)
- ITiCSE Conferences (starting in 2005)
- CCSC Central Plains Conferences (starting in 2006)
- CCSC Southeastern Conference (2007)
- CCSC Mid South Conferences (starting in 2007)
- SIGITE Conferences (starting in 2007)
- CCSC Southwestern Conferences (starting in 2008)
- ACM Southeast Conferences (starting in 2008)

Documentation

Documentation has evolved substantially throughout this project. The following links provide access to the main documentation revisions.

2001	Part I on "User Activities" fleshed out authors, reviewers can update their own records capabilities expanded for handling referees
2002	Same as 2001 documentation, except for conference header information
2003	Same as 2001 documentation, except for use of shtml format for header files and minor editing
2004	Panels and special sessions handled by system (separate scripts for each submission category) Reviewers allowed to see reviews of their papers, after the submission deadline
2005	System now a collaborative effort of Henry M. Walker with John Dooley, Knox College System reorganized and revised to allow table-driven specification of submission categories, etc. diagrams added of scripts for submissions, reviewers, administration
2006	Same documentation as 2005
2007	Expanded documentation on "Technical Sessions" and "Concurrent Sessions" for on-line program
2008	Modest editing of documentation for reviewers
2009	Substantial reworking of documentation new overview section time line for conference leadership expanded and refined revised descriptions for user and conference-leadership scripts diagrams added for each category of script administrative section streamlined lists of database tables replaced by outlines and processes as needed for maintenance and administration new section on subject categories and subject areas
