Lederman, Marty. “The heroes of the Pentagon's interrogation scandal.” Balkinization, July 27, 2005 (accessed July 27, 2005).
Summary: The Pentagon recently declassified six memoranda written by the Judge Advocates General of the Armed Forces in February 2003. The memoranda are reactions to the Republican administration's proposal to torture and abuse detainees at Guantánamo. They express the horror and indigation that long-term military officers felt towards that porposal and explain why adopting it would undermine the war effort and put military officers in danger of prosecution for war crimes.
