Garcia, Eric. Matchstick men. New York: Villard Books, 2002. ISBN 0-375-50522-9.

Summary: A con artist whose tendencies to self-destructive violence are held in check by prescription mood-suppressing drugs unexpectedly learns that he has a fourteen-year-old daughter. They meet, and she quickly discovers his profession and begs to be allowed to participate in his scams, despite initial protests from the con man's partner. These initial experiments work out well, on the whole, and the con man becomes increasingly dependent on his daughter. This turns out to have unfortunate consequences when an elaborate scam devised by the partner fails to come off as planned.
