Hacking gadflies

American Civil Liberties Union. “FBI uses Patriot Act to demand information with no judicial approval from organization with library records.” American Civil Liberties Union, August 25, 2005.

Summary: The FBI has demanded information about library patrons -- what books they have borrowed and what Internet sites they have visited -- from an organization that is currently forbidden to identify itself publicly (but is known to be a member of the American Library Association). The organization is challenging the demand in court, but the court prohibited the organization from publicly discussing the case or their role in it. The ACLU is trying to get this gag order lifted.
