“Lisa.” “Freedom Toaster: burn free.” Freedom Toaster, August 16, 2005.

Summary: Because the telecommunications services in South Africa make it difficult to download full CD images, an educational foundation there has set up a number of public machines that will burn a user-selected Linux or FreeBSD distribution onto a blank CD that the user provides. These “Freedom Toasters” are about the size of vending machines. The user inserts a CD and selects the software load from a touchscreen. So far, the foundation has set up Freedom Toasters in fourteen South African cities.
