Knight, Andrew. “U.S. Patent Office publishes the first patent application to claim a fictional storyline; inventor asserts provisional rights against Hollywood.” Knight & Associates, November 3, 2005.

Summary: The United States Patent and Trademark Office has published the author's application for a patent on a generic plot line. The application has not yet been approved, but the author believes that it will be, and that he will be able to sue movie studios for patent infringement if they use his plot without paying him for a license. He has at least three other plot patents in the works.
