Hacking gadflies

Miller, Mark Crispin. Fooled again: how the right stole the 2004 election and why they'll steal the next one too (unless we stop them). New York: Basic Books, 2005. ISBN 0-465-04579-0.

Summary: The Republicans stole the 2004 Presidential election and some state and local elections, using a combination of several types of electoral fraud: illegal cancellation and mishandling of voter registrations, failure to provide sufficient ballots, voting machines, and voting stations, deliberate misconfiguration of voting machines, manipulation of vote totals, and mishandling and misclassification of absentee ballots. Radical reforms are needed if future American elections are to be free and fair.
