Garlick, Mia. “Creative Commons memo: Getting to version 3.0 -- substance & procedure.” May 17, 2006.
Summary: Creative Commons is preparing to promulgate new versions of their licenses, incorporating technical changes proposed by MIT and by Debian for compatability with, respectively, MIT's internal policies and the Debian Free Software Guidelines. The new licenses will be more visibly distinguished (for instance, each one will have its own logo), in the hope that commentators will stop lumping together the free and non-free licenses.
The new licenses may possibly be launched as early as July 3.
