Townsend, Sue. Adrian Mole and the weapons of mass destruction. New York: Soho Press, 2005. ISBN 1-56947-406-0.
Summary: The diary of a British loser in early middle age reveals his comic self-importance, imprudence, cowardice, and hypocrisy.
This is the fifth in a series of snapshots of the same hapless twit at various stages of life, beginning with The secret diary of Adrian Mole aged 13¾. One of the consequences of his self-centeredness is that he cannot recognize or accept good advice from anyone else, even his closest friends, so it is encouraging to reach the end of this book and find that, at least in one or two cases, the course of events can teach him lessons that other people could not.
