Dress code for the staff

I learned today that the administration is in the process of concocting a dress code for College administrators and staff members, so that everyone will look sufficiently professional. Ironically, the effect will be to widen the disparity between appearance and reality, since one of the prerogratives of most real-world professionals is to choose their own attire rather than allowing some bureaucrat to select the appropriate uniform.

Update: A new rumor has it that the proposal has been scotched. I'm delighted.
