Exit Survey Project
This project would provide an online system for surveys given to graduating
seniors, replacing an paper-based system.
Requirements for this system fall into two main categories:
-
presentation of questions and collection of answers for graduating seniors
-
retrieval of answers by faculty
Questions for Students
As described in the second lab on exit
interviews, the survey itself should have these characteristics:
-
Questions may be in any of 3 categories:
-
short answer (fill in the blank)
-
check boxes (e.g., courses taken)
-
multiple choice (e.g., 1, 2, 3, or a, b, c, d)
-
Questions may be arranged under headers
-
Selection, grouping, and ordering of questions should be table driven.
-
A student may fill out the form and may revise the answers later (at least
for an interval of time)
-
Students may view their own form and answers, but not other forms or other
answers.
Viewing by Faculty
Faculty should be able to view combinations of answers, as follows:
-
Statistics
-
Number of respondents to a given survey
-
Number of students for an advisor
-
Number of students by graduation year
-
Courses taken by responding students (perhaps by graduation year)
-
Composite results for multiple-choice questions (by survey)
-
Full results for a survey
-
Organized by student or
-
Organized by question
-
Full results for an individual student or for a graduating class
-
Longitudinal results for a questions (e.g., year-by-year answers to the
same question)
