Motivation for AP

The Advanced Placement Program identifies content and provides assessment, so that students can receive college credit for work done in high school.

• Content matches a typical college course, both in content and rigor
• Examination standards demonstrate student proficiency
• Numerous comparative studies show AP students with good scores perform as good or better than "A" and "B" students in college courses.
• Development Committees for AP exams (with the College Board) periodically compare content of AP courses with college faculty to ensure a reasonable match.
