Context
When using the Google, the search engine identifies pages that satisfy our
parameters. This presents the question of how to order the pages obtained.
-
PageRank provides a rating of reach page.
-
Google presents search results in descending order of this PageRank rating.
Basic Principles
Conceptually, PageRank captures these principles:
-
PageRank captures how important a page is; the higher the PageRank, the
higher the importance of a page.
-
A page is important, if many pages have links to it.
-
A page is even more important, if many important pages have links to it.
-
A page is not very important, if few (or no) pages have links to it.
-
A page is relatively less important, if the pages that do link to it are
not very important themselves.
