The Problem
Conclusions by Graham and Metaxas after a survey/study at Wellesley College:
Students are relying more and more on the Internet as their primary source of information
Study shows students have trouble recognizing trustworthy sources
Students are not consistently able to differentiate between advertising claims and fact
Very few students double-check information found on the Internet
Older students with stronger traditional research skills performed no better than other students
Greater emphasis placed on finding information than evaluating it
Conclusions consistent with anecdotal feedback
