• Condensation of schedule from 35 months to 32 months
• Some pieces scheduled for final months may be done early
  (e.g., either this summer or summer 2007)
• Expect conversations with affected faculty about when some work might be done

On-going process of identifying alternatives to save money while maintaining quality

• Consideration of mechanical systems

  • placement of smoke sensors
  • review of paint colors
  • etc.

• To date, changes unlikey to be noticed by anyone

Dimmable Lighting

• "Final" blueprints had continuously-dimmable lighting in many, many areas

• Building Committee must determine where dimmable lighting actually needed
  Default (subject to review):

  • retain continuously-dimmable lighting in classrooms
  • 3-level lighting in offices (2 ligh switches)
  • 3-level llighting in labs

• Potential savings may be in range of $50,000

• Building Commitee members responsible for final decisions

  • Letter on subject recently sent by Dean Swartz
  • Changes from above defaults should be communicated to Stephanie Peterson
