The IBM Personal Computer Expansion Unit, introduced about 1981, greatly enhanced the storage capabilities of the original IBM Personal Computer 5150. The original IBM PC contained only two 5-1/4" floppy disks, each of which could store 160 KB of data. The Expansion Unit 5161 utilized one or two 10MB hard disks (this unit has two), increasing the storage capacity of the machine by about 62.5 times.
